Stella McCartney, a favourtie in rock chick circles and the anti-fur lobby, may be adding a new niche market to her repertoire: yummy mummies.
Designing her latest collection during the summer months while heavily pregnant with her second child must have awakened her to the limitations of maternity wear, especially when McCartney, the daughter of former Beatle Paul McCartney, is never far from the social pages.
So she has turned her mind to ways of looking chic when you are eight months gone. Of course, fashion's current passion for volume is a gift for the expectant mother and anyone who is not size 0 (the controversial issue of the week). So McCartney showed loose dresses with huge puff sleeves, all-in-one shirts and shorts and puffy romper bathing suits that would look cute on Bondi Beach even if the heavily pregnant wearer feels anything but.
Naturally, it was all cottons and linen. There were ideas for those who are not in the family way, such as glamorous loose silk slips and trapeze dresses, along with McCartney's signature Savile Row tailoring of mannish pants-suits and shorts. Source
