We'll alway remember her for ripping off her jersey in a moment of soccer triumph. That was the Women's World Cup in 1999, but Brandi Chastain is still kicking it up. The Bay Area native still resides in San Jose, where she's married and raising her children. Here's what Brandi say:
What advice would you give to girls who feel that they have too much going on in their lives? The biggest piece of advice I could give is find the things that you truly enjoy and spend time doing those things. My husband has always said "if you want to do anything well, you can't spread yourself too thin," because then you can't really focus on anything. But if you have a couple loves, kind of like in this movie, she loves her friends, she loves her family, she loves soccer, she's kind of finding her first love, you have to find a way to balance those things.
How has having your son Jaden changed your views on soccer and life in general?
I have an older stepson, too. I think standing on the sideline of your child's game as opposed to being a player, it definitely changes the way you are, the way you react to the referee or you react to the parents or how positive you should be on the sidelines. It's changed my approach, it's given me a better perspective. It's reinforced the ideas that every chance you get to be on the field, be with your friends, meet someone new for the first time, you should take. Have an open mind and be positive, because life is just too short to do it otherwise.
